Employment trends of young people in Montenegro

We are aware of how challenging looking for a job after completing studies can be for any young person. In Montenegro, the promotion of youth employment is recognized as a priority. Although a large number of young people have university education, this does not free them from the risk of unemployment, but they have greater opportunities for employment than young people who only have primary or secondary education. The most common challenges they face are:

  • lack of work experience,
  • mismatch between supply and demand for certain professions and
  • great competition.

The labor market is constantly changing, and it is up to young people to understand that learning does not end after graduation, but that it is a continuous process. Also, in addition to formal education, it is important to develop various skills through courses, internships and volunteering. Some of the essential skills are knowledge of computer work and foreign languages, good communication and willingness to work in a team. Young people must be proactive and ready for constant training in order to adapt to the labor market and follow employment trends.
